You'll never have to buy pasta sauce again! Simple ingredients and ready in 30 minutes! This sauce can be used for pasta, as a pizza sauce and is great with chicken Parmesan. Omit the spice if you're not a fan or add more to your liking!
You'll never have to buy pasta sauce again! Simple ingredients and ready in 30 minutes! This sauce can be used for pasta, as a pizza sauce and is great with chicken Parmesan. Omit the spice if you're not a fan or add more to your liking!
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cut an X on one side of each of the tomatoes. Plunge whole tomatoes in boiling water for 45 seconds. Remove with slotted spoon and place in a bowl to cool enough to handle. Remove tomato skin and core.
Skip the above steps if using a can of tomatos.
Ruff chop tomatoes and add to blender. If using crushed, skip this step.
In a dutch oven or heavy bottom pot, add 2 tbsp ghee or olive oil and sautee onion. When translucent, add spices to bloom. Add diced garlic and sautee for 1-2 minutes. Don't let the garlic burn. Add tomatos to pot and stir to combine. Simmer on low for 15-20 minutes and taste. Adjust salt and pepper to your liking.
While sauce is simmering, lay basil leaves on top of each other and roll tight. Thinly slice basil roll and add fresh basil to pot during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
This sauce is great for Chicken Parm, as a pizza sauce or a for spaghtti.
Note: If making spaghetti, use some pasta water to the sauce and mix in noodles and 1/2 cup parmasian for delicious authentic italian pasta marinara.
